We're having a.......

Surprise! We had the 2o week ultrasound 2 weeks ago (I'm 22 weeks along right now) and stuck with our original idea of not finding out. Although Aaron was a litttle tempted to take a quick peek, we both kept it a surprise and are really happy with the decision. The first time around we were so overwhelmed with everything (getting baby gear, attending classes, anticipating the birth, fearing the epidural, etc) that we just wanted one 'known'. This time, provided the pregnancy continues well, the only real surprise is the gender! We're so excited to find out.

I am certainly feeling pregnant now. I wish I had some pictures to share, but alas, I do not. I am a lazy blogger indeed! I keep putting it off because I don't really have any pictures to post. So, this will just be a quick life and pregnancy update SANS pictures.

I've had a few health complications lately that I didn't have with my last pregnancy. My heart has just been racing lately, sometimes to the point where I think I'm going to faint. My resting heart rate has been between 90-100, which is really high for me. I think the last time I was pregnant it was in the high 60's / low 70's. I'm also constantly tired, probably because my body is getting a quasi-cardio workout every moment I'm awake.

I went in last week to get checked out and the initial thought was to send me to see a cardiologist because of the symptoms. I also had a full blood work-up and thyroid check. Because both the glucose and thyroid tests came back perfectlly, they decided to give me 2 more weeks until my next appointment before sending me to see a cardiologist. Oh, and you other moms will love this.....they told me to 'relax and sit down more'. Yeah, that is really going to happen with an active toddler around. I've tried to take some of her advice and am actually sitting here blogging in my messy house instead of cleaning it. Not sure that's taking away any stress, but at least it's not spiking my heartrate any higher than necessary.

Other than the recent rapid heart rate, I've been doing really well. I can feel the baby moving, which is always fun. And the movement is still so subtle that it doesn't keep me up at night...a true bonus!

When I was pregnant with Grace, everyone was convinced I was having a boy by the way I was carrying. Well, now that I've "been there, done that" I am starting to notice differences in the two pregnancies. This time around I'm carrying a lot lower (no heartburn!!!!!), my skin is the best it's ever been and I don't really have any cravings. If I do have a craving it's usually for some sort of meat or just a massive steak. Of course, I'm not counting my constant desire to drink wine as a 'craving' :-) With Grace, I also carried her way out front, but she was high and gave me heart burn and made my ribs ach from being so high. I also had horrible skin and craved sugar the entire pregnancy. Hmm, perhaps the sugar over load had something to do with the bad skin? So, could it be a boy? Aaron's keeping his fingers crossed but I'm not totally convinced. Now that I have a girl, I just can't picture bringing a baby home from the hospital that ISN'T a girl. Funny how life is.

That's all from the Gores! Please pray that my heart rate goes down so I'm reenergized and keeping nice and healthy for this baby!
