Week 26

I can't believe I'm almost done with my 2nd trimester! The last 6 weeks have just flown by. Baby Gore is now 1 2/3 pounds and is about 14 inches long. The food comparison of the week is "about the size of an English Cucumber". FINALLY! A food that I have not only heard of, I've actually eaten. If I wasn't so lazy, I'd go grab my tape measure and see how 14 inches compares to a bottle of wine. But alas...I've been on my feet all day and only plan to get back on them in order to walk to bed...or the fridge.

When I last blogged, I was on my way to physical therapy for back problems. I've been twice so far and, let's just say, my physical therapist will soon become my new BFF. I think we'll be spending a lot of time together. Apparently, my joints have really started to relax and losen up due to the pregnancy hormones. In the process of all of this, my pelvis joint has actually become rotated on one side which is causing a lot of pain in itself and is also causing one of my legs to actually be a little shorter than the other because of the rotation. Not comfortable when walking, let me tell you. Stairs are even worse. Blah, blah, blah...complain, complain, complain. In short, it's really painful and won't likely be getting much better any time soon - especially since everything is still loose and shifting.

This was also quite the busy weekend. We got our crib on Sunday. It looks so great in that room! Once I get more things set up, I will post some pictures. Speaking of a busy Sunday, I must do a quick "Ode to Aaron". He's such a hard worker! First, he started his Sunday morning by taking apart our dryer and fixing it. Cheers to having a handy-man husband! Then, we went over to my friend Kirsten's house and picked up the crib which Aaron took apart, loaded in the truck, and reassembled in the babies room at our house. Then, before he went to play football, he decided to pressure wash our driveway and front walkway with our neighbors pressure washer. Just typing this makes me tired! What a guy. Here are a few pictures of him hard at work and still smiling.

Oh, we also had our birthing class last night where we watched "The Video". Yeah, the one I was dreading.... First, I must say that it wasn't as bad as birthing video you watched in high school. I blogged about that fear last week. However, there was NOTHING good about the video we watched. There were 3 different births. Two without drugs and one with an epidural. All three of them scared me to death. I was also to emotional when the baby was finally born on the videos that I kept crying. I think I was also crying because of the impending pain I knew I'd eventually be in. Aaron's kind words to me after watching the video were, "I'm glad that's you and not me!" Yeah, is that some sort of a horrible pep-talk or what?! I had nightmares all last night over that class and birthing options. Let me just say again, none of those options (epidural or not) were good options. You have the option of experiencing hours on end of horrible, painful labor - OR - you have the option of a few hours of painful labor and then you get someone (hopefully not an Intern or Resident) to shove a massive needle into your back and shove some tube into your spine to paralyze you.! I don't know which option I'm more scared of, but I think I'm more scared of the epidural option. Yikes!

I must end on a positive note. I did experience something wonderful last week. Has anyone ever tried Dryers vanilla almond, chocolate covered ice cream bars?! Heaven! AND, they are low fat. Mmmmm. They are delish. I'm going to enjoy the last one as soon as I'm finished with this blog. Which reminds me, I should wrap this up! Here's my latest pic. Don't mind the fact that I'm actually wearing spandex yoga pants. They are some of the only loungewear that fit me.

Aww, you have such a helpful husband. Maybe you can get someone in footwear to make you a shoe with a lift ;) Hope the PT helps.

yep, have had those ice cream bars and they are so good!

birthing class videos freaked me out each time, too...but let me tell you girlfriend, you don't even feel that needle going in and it feels oh so good afterwards! that's all i'll say because you really don't want to hear my birth story - let's just say it wasn't fun!

What a handy hubby you have!
Don't fear the epi! You don't see it, or feel it. The first birth experience is the hardest because of the unknown. Like the last poster said, you don't want to hear my birth stories.... :) Each experience is unique & amazing.

Aaron is definitely husband of the day! Whatta guy. I guess that makes up for the great pep talk!

I, by no means know, but they say once you hold that precious little miracle, you forget about all the pain. I don't know how much that helps during the whole experience, but maybe 2 weeks after you'll feel better!

The thought of the birthing video makes me shudder. You are a brave, brave girl, Durick.

My favorite part of your blogs are all of the new and intersting foods you expose me too. Granted, some of them are compared to Baby G, but they are interesting nonetheless. I'm all over those ice cream bars. Good call.

You look fabulous! This blog is a great idea. There are so many things that I have forgotten and would like to look back upon. My hips shifted and made my back hurt (nothing compared to what you are going through). I went to the pool almost every and just floated around like a big whale for 30 or 45 min and it seemed to really help let things re-align. One leg shorter then the other … holy cow! - Teresa
